Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer at the Pearson Lakes Art Center. With your time you are making an important contribution to the arts and we are excited to share your skill set. Contact us to become a volunteer.

Current Opportunities

ART EDUCATION:  

  • TOUR GUIDES Upon completing a scheduled PLAC docent training, you are able to become an art center ambassador. The tours include indoors and outdoors guided visits. We schedule specialized tours for visitors, schools and other organizations.
  • PREPARATION ASSISTANCE for youth and adult art classes during the regular year as needed by the Director.

VISUAL ARTS

  • EVENT SUPPORT Assist with an art activity or exhibit open house, greet the public, bartend, set the spread and clean up after the event, make people smile! Other events include assisting with Art in the Park and The Artisan Road Trip.
  • INSTALL – Assist with an art exhibit installation.
  • GIFT SHOP – Organize and refresh the displays in the gift shop periodically.

PERFORMING ARTS 

  • GREETER – welcome attendees at the door and pass out their tickets if saved in Will Call.
  • USHER – take tickets, show patrons to their seats, beverage patrol, make people smile! When you volunteer as an usher, you are able to attend the performance, however you are not guaranteed a seat! Ushers are asked to be at the theatre at 6:30PM and to wear a white top and black pants/skirt.
  • MEALS – Duties include: help with the meals and clean up for the bands performing that night. 

CULINARY

  • EVENT SUPPORT Assist with a culinary activity or a wine class, bartend, set the spread or help the chef if needed and help with cleaning after the class, and of course, make people smile! 

OUTDOORS

  • The outdoor area will utilize volunteers in a variety of ways including but not limited to landscaping and clean up, docents for guided sculpture trail walks, assisting during outdoor activities/classes.
  • This area is ever changing and as the outdoor offerings evolve, there will be additional and different needs for volunteers. 

There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer–you name it we need it! We need your passion and your love for people to help our events run smoothly!

The Pearson Lakes Art Center was founded in 1965 by a group of artists in a small, barn-like structure. It has evolved to become one of the top art museums in Iowa, serving as a meeting place, learning center, safe harbor and creative outlet for area residents and visitors.

We thank sponsors on our digital sign that is visible 24/7.

Tickets available to every performance. Must be reserved in advance.
