Artist Statement for Sub Fish
Fish Sub is fabricated entirely from recycled materials. The body is made from two automotive clutch pressure plates, the face and mouth are an old hand forged fender and the tail fin section is a recycled automotive fan that spins in the wind.
The fish fins are created from commercial shelving units and feature recycled copper and brass sheet insets. Copper and metallic brass patina stains are also used throughout the piece.
Artist Bio
Tim Nelsen has been a sculptor/metal artist since 2018 and uses recycled materials exclusively in his work. He is a graduate of Bemidji State University in Bemidji MN with a BA degree in Design Technology.
Tim has served as an executive board member on the Bemidji Sculpture Walk
since 2020. He blends his graphic design background with his metal skills to create one of a kind pieces of art that have been showcased throughout the Midwest. Tim works out of his home studio based in Bemidji MN.
