Chef Jacques will demonstrate how to create a classic tarte tatin - an inverted caramelized apple tart, from start to finish, and explain the art of presentation and decoration. Participants will learn about the differences between American pastries and authentic French patisserie. Jacques will share his journey in launching his own pastry business and how his art has developed ever since he began baking, notably as a monk in France. Scrumptious pastry samples and a glass of sparkling wine included.
Synopsis: Chef Jaques Bouli and his wife Brigitte Bouli, own Four De Marie, a private family business that offers homemade French pastries. Jacques, originally from Cameroon, Africa, grew up learning the art of homemade baking and cooking with his French mother. He continued his formation through online French baking classes and was able to practice his skills in the kitchen as a Catholic Religious Monk for over 10 years in the heart of monastic life. He specializes in eclairs, cream puffs, Paris Brest, lemon-meringue, tarts, crepes, brioche, and more!
