June 8 & 9: Painting with Handmade Stencils
Build confidence with their scissor skills while exploring shape, layering, and abstract design. We’ll begin by folding paper and carefully cutting out shapes to create one-of-a-kind stencils. Next, young artists will use rollers to apply paint over their handmade stencils, revealing bold, layered compositions full of overlapping shapes and color.
June 15 & 16: Weaving with Reeds
Using flat reeds, students will learn to color them (dye) using color theory on day one. On day two we will discuss warp and weft to weave our own reed artwork that will be mounted on a colorful matboard and framed!
June 22 & 23 | Clay Lanterns
In this two-day clay class, students will design and build a slab-constructed lantern. They’ll carve shapes and patterns to let the light shine through. Pieces will be glazed and kiln-fired, ready for pick-up approximately 2–3 weeks after class. Students will take home a battery-operated tealight to use inside their finished lantern.

July 6 & 7: Clay Creature Bowls
In this playful handbuilding class, young artists will learn how to form a pinch pot and use coils to build and decorate their very own creature bowl. Students will shape clay using their hands, then add fun features like ears, horns, scales, or silly monster faces. We’ll practice important clay skills such as scoring, slipping, attaching pieces securely, and adding texture. On the final day, students will glaze their creations with bright, colorful finishes. Projects will be kiln-fired and ready for pick up approximately 2.5 weeks after class.
July 13 & 14: Abstract Coil Sculpture
Learn how to roll clay coils (snakes) that are even and smooth to create arched, curved, and textured abstract sculptures! Students will also learn to use a clay extruder, slip and score pieces securely, and finish by underglaze painting. Pieces will be left to dry, fire in the kiln, and clear glaze. Pieces will be ready for pickup approximately 2.5 weeks following class.
July 20 & 21: Drawing Insects!
Young artists will explore the fascinating world of bugs through drawing! Students will learn how to observe shapes, patterns, and textures found in insects. We’ll start with simple sketches of different bugs, focusing on body shapes, legs, wings, and antennae. Students will experiment with lines, patterns, and symmetry to bring each insect to life in charcoal and pencil.
July 27 & 28: Mosaic Magic with Beads
In this colorful class, young artists will learn the art of mosaics by arranging tiles, beads, and other fun materials to create a sparkling design on a 12x12 cradle board. Students will start by sketching a simple pattern or image, then practice placing and gluing pieces to bring their design to life.
