Flow includes mixed media block printed and painted clay works that express the peace and joy that the artist feels every time she is out in nature: “I look carefully at things to find nuances of color, textures, unusual combinations, and the endless visual variation of life created by water, rocks, woods, fields, Lake Erie, and creeks. My works are narratives based on my travels and the life I live in rural western New York State. I spend a great deal of my time in the woods, walking on ocean beaches, watching the moods of Lake Erie from our cottage windows, exploring the local creeks for fish, and bird watching. Many of my pieces are set in my backyard that is a small mixed pine, hardwood, and birch woods. These trees have hosted a wide variety of local birds that become my models and muses. My work comes from a place of flowing imagery that I capture and use in my work.”

Audrey Kay Dowling attended SUNY New Paltz, receiving a BS in Art Education and an MS degree from SUNY Fredonia, and continues to expand her artistic education through summer clay workshops at Alfred University and several painting and printmaking workshops.
