Plexi-Painting: Portrait, Figurative,
& Still-Life

Instructor: Audrey Roll-priessler
June 17-19, 10am-4pm

In this three day workshop, Audrey will teach students her unique process of painting on plexi-glass. Audrey’s distinct painting process allows students the ability to see through the material and create a painting from front to back.
Roll-preissler is a nationally recognized painter and sculptor with work in many corporate collections and museums. She has given seminars and workshops and has taught at the University of Wyoming. Formerly of New York, Washington, D.C., and Chicago, Roll-priessler lives in Bellingham, WA.

Drawing Outside the Box
Instructor: Hank Hall
June 24-26, 10am-4pm
Cost: M$125 & NM$150

This workshop offers a unique way of experiencing drawing. Try using a variety of materials, such as fishing poles and drawing tents, in a cross-section from precise realism to bizarre abstraction. This is a class you won’t want to miss! Suitable for both the beginning and the advanced artist.
Teacher Re-certification credit is available.

Open Studio: Ceramics, Painting, & Drawing

Thursdays, 7:00-9:00 PM

Members: Free!  Just bring your own supplies.

Clay available at $25.00 per 25 lbs., includes glazing and firing.

Live clothed model available!  Suggested Donation: $5

This is a chance to use PLAC studios to create your own artwork!  Bring your own materials, and work on your own projects.  This is not a class, but rather an opportunity to expand your own working techniques.  Materials for still-lifes will be available for painting and drawing.

Summer artist lecture series

The Lectures will be held in the Lauridsen Theatre from 6-7pm each Thursday night during the summer.  The artists will show slides or digital images and talk about themselves, their work, and their processes.

Bring your own lunch and explore art through the ages with a focus on a different artist each week!  Each session includes a handout, a discussion, and a video about the artist.  Most videos will be shown in the Lauridsen Theatre.

If you liked the books The DaVinci Code and Girl with a Pearl Earring, this reading group is for you.  We will be reading fictional and non-fictional books that involve art history.  The group will read one book each month and meet at the end of the month for discussion.

Filmmaking 101” or “How to make your Youtube video not suck”

Monday June 23 and Tuesday June 24, 6-7:30 p.m. & Friday June 27, 6-9 p.m.
Ages 13 through adult

Equipment: Bring your video camera (optional)
We will discuss the importance of story, and use of sound to enhance a scene. We will cover camera techniques; including depth of field, rule of thirds, camera movement, lighting, storyboarding, camera angle, scene coverage and continuity. There will be homework for Friday’s class.


ACTING FOR THE CAMERA

Monday June 16, 7-9 p.m.
Ages 16-adult

Learn to hit your mark and emote. From working to an extra to being ready for a close up, this class will give you the chance to do it all.


LEARN TO JUGGLE

Instructor - Chad Branham
Saturday, June 21 from 1-2 p.m.
Ages 8 through adult
Cost: M$8 & NM$10

Equipment: Bring your own bags or balls. (Please no chainsaws, machetes, or bowling balls)
Impress your friends, be they life of the party, or just throw things in the air and catch them. This is great way to improve eye hand coordination. Life is balancing act, so learn to throw it all in the air and catch it.
