Robert Kipness

Born in New York City, Robert Kipness studied at the city's famous Art Students League before earning his Masters Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Iowa in 1954.  His works are characterized by a simple setting, often the image of a house and a few hills in an untouched silence.  His colors are subdued and mild.

He has extensively exhibited in the US and abroad with numerous one-man shows.  In 1980 he was elected to the National Academy of Design.  His works can be found in the permanent collections at: The Chicago Art Institute; Philadelphia Museum of Art; Whitney Museum of Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; New York Library; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Detroit Art Institute; Yale University Museum; and many other important collections throughout the United State, United Kingdon, and Sout America.
